Who you are dealing with

Painted Crayon is run by PaintedApp, LLC, 1327 SE Tacoma St #394, Portland, OR 97202, United States. Write to support@painted.app about anything here.

What you are buying

A print of a drawing as your browser lifted and traced it, on the sheet, ground and size you chose, from the lab named at checkout; or a Digital File of the same print. The plate you see in the studio is drawn by the same code that draws the print file, so what you approve is what is printed. The note on the reverse is ours, and is never printed.

Made to order

Every print is made from one drawing alone. Nothing is held in stock and nothing can be resold, so please check the plate, the caption and the options before you pay. A print can't be cancelled or returned once the lab has it, except where the fault is ours or the law says otherwise. The shipping and returns page sets out what we do when something goes wrong.

The last look

A person here may look at the print file after you pay and before the lab receives it. If the lift went wrong, we write to you before anything is printed, and you can change the order or cancel it for a full refund.

The drawing is theirs

You and the family whose child drew it keep every right in the drawing. By ordering, you confirm that you may have it printed, and you give us and the lab the permission needed to print and deliver it, and nothing more. We use a drawing for your order and for nothing else: we don't show it on this site, put it in advertising or train anything on it.

The Digital File

The Digital File is the print file itself, delivered by email and on the thanks page. You may print it as often as you like, at home or at any print shop, for your own walls and as gifts. It isn't licensed for resale or for printing on products to sell.

The honest limits

The lift measures the photograph and nothing more. It can leave out a faint mark, and the red pencil shows what it left out before you pay. It can merge two close colours, which raising The Colours separates. It traces soft drawings poorly, so when the traced area and the lifted area differ by more than 4% it prints the lifted pixels instead, at no more than the largest size they hold at 150 dpi. Colours are sampled from your photograph, so the light you take it in shows in the print, and paper never matches a screen exactly.

Prices and payment

Prices are in US dollars and are the ones on the order panel. Postage is the lab's own price, shown at checkout before you pay. Stripe takes the payment. Our server works out every price again from the catalogue, so a price changed in the browser is never the one charged.

Fair use of the site

Bring drawings you may print. Don't use the studio to print someone else's artwork for sale, and don't try to break or overload the site.

If something arrives wrong

If your print arrives damaged, defective, or not what you ordered, write to us within 30 days of delivery with a photograph and we'll remake it or refund you. That is our own promise, and it sits on top of your statutory rights, which nothing here reduces.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and disputes will be heard there, except where consumer-protection law where you live gives you the right to bring proceedings in your own country. Before filing anything, please write to us so we can try to settle it directly.

Changes

If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them. An order is governed by the terms on the day you placed it. The privacy notice says what happens to your data.
